24 Books to Read in 2024

Like any eager bookworm, my bookshelves have been slowly spilling over with old favourites, impulse purchases, and long-awaited hardback pre-orders.  And even though I don’t have any regrets about any of that, my poor little house has been complaining about it.  So maybe, just maybe, it is time to start reading more of the books I own.

With this in mind… my goal for 2024 is to actually read the books I own.  50% of them, in fact!

I discovered, with help from Goodreads, that I have 82 unread books on my shelf.  And that’s fine because I love have a wide selection of books to choose from depending on my mood, except for the fact that I now have piles of books next to my bookshelves because I can’t fit them all on.  I’m hoping focusing on what I already own will mean I can shift on books that were ‘just ok’ reads, and make space for some new titles tidy up my house!

From the selection, here is what I plan to prioritise reading first in 2024:

1.) What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher

2.) The Other Half of Augusta Hope by Joanna Glen

3.) Death of a Bookseller by Alice Slater

4.) The Book of the Most Precious Substance by Sara Gran

5.) The Red of My Blood by Clover Stroud

6.) The Salt Path by Raynor Winn

7.) The Twisted Ones by T. Kingfisher

8.) Threadneedle by Cari Thomas

9.) Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel

10.) The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang

11.) Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff

12.) Red Rising by Pierce Brown

13.) How High We Go In The Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu

14.) Under the Whispering Door by T. J. Klune

15.) Life Ceremony by Sayaka Murata

16.) Skandar and the Phantom Rider by A.F. Steadman

17.) The Winter Spirits

18.) The Book of Form and Emptiness by Ruth Ozeki

19.) The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge

20.) In Memoriam by Alice Winn

21.) Concerning My Daughter by Kim Hye-Jin

22.) Weyward by Emilia Hart

23.) Godkiller by Hannah Kaner

24.) A History of What Comes Next by Sylvain Neuvel

There we go – 24 books I’m fairly confident I can get read this year.  It is only the tip of the TBR iceberg, but you have to start somewhere!
