Introduction: Becca’s Spookoplathon

I really enjoyed the Realmathon back in May, and have been looking for a similar reading challenge ever since.

The Spookoplathon is a spooky season readathon hosted by booktuber Becca and the Books.  The rules are easy: roll the dice, move around the Spookopoly board, and add a book to your TBR for each prompt you land on.  Read as many of those books as you can throughout October!

There are two ways to play the game.  You can roll all of your books at the beginning of the month and work through the pile, or you can just roll whenever you’re ready for your next book.  I like to feel motivated by a big stack of reading, so I’ve opted for the first pick!

I’m looking forward to an opportunity to read some books that have just been sat on my shelves for a few months now, which I’ve never been quite in the mood to read.  Since we’re now heading into the spooky season, it seems the perfect time to give those titles a bit of a spotlight.

I’ve chosen four books for this readathon, but if I do well I’ll just keep on rolling!

Here go the rolls…

Roll 1:
8 spaces to ‘Green’ (A book with a mostly green cover)

Book: The Bewitched by Jill Dawson

Roll 2:
10 spaces to ‘Mary Shelley’ (A sci-fi book or Mary Shelley novel)

Book: D: A Tale of Two Worlds by Michel Faber

Roll 3:
7 spaces to ‘What a Ghostly Scene’ (Book that features ghosts, hauntings or a haunted house)

Book: The Hollow Spaces by T. Kingfisher

Roll 4:
4 spaces to ‘Pumpkin Spice’ (Book you’re excited about, an anticipated read or ‘spicy’ book)

Book: Masters of Death by Olivie Blake

There we go!  I’ve got a few library books to finish off this month too, so this should keep me busy for a few weeks!

It isn’t too late to join the challenge.  Watch Becca’s YouTube video for full details, and for a link to all of the resources.
